The wet-weather plan, decided in advance
Rain here arrives in short heavy bursts, so the plan is usually a delay rather than a relocation. Two things need deciding before the week of the wedding: where you would go, and who makes the call. A two-hour window and one nominated person beats a group message at eleven in the morning.
Osteria and Fins Plantation House both have cover, the surf clubs along the coast take a ceremony at short notice, and most of the Kingscliff and Casuarina accommodation has a deck that holds thirty. A council permit buys a site at a time; moving to private ground does not need one at all.
Where the reception is, and what that decides
Most Tweed Coast weddings put the ceremony on sand and the reception somewhere with a kitchen, which means a transfer. Twenty minutes from Fingal Head to Kingscliff, ten from Cabarita to Casuarina — short enough that guests will drive it, long enough that it belongs on the invitation with a time against it.
Where one venue does both, the ceremony usually moves to their lawn or deck and the permit disappears. Osteria and Fins work that way, as do several of the Salt and Casuarina properties. It costs you the beach in the photographs and buys back an hour of the afternoon, and couples split about evenly on which is worth more.
